Alright then. After tinkering and sweating and bopping our heads, me and Mr Simmonds have emerged from the cave with two slabs of brand new music.
The first is Reach Out, which tells the tales of two old men I met separately, sitting on a wall and riding a rainswept train. They’re both lonely and full of stories, and both of them are wise in their ways. Some of you might recognise them. I’m joined on the chorus by the amazing Cate Ferris, whose voice was sent straight from the Garden of Folk Eden, and on the slide guitar by the wizard-fingered J Levitsky (who you’ll know from Bad Science and Samsara). Sheeiit I’m getting excited over here. It’s too good to conceive of a music-child and bring it into the world, it’s too too good.
I’ve decided to offer Reach Out to your earholes on the 20th of July, which is next monday. I can’t afford to make cd’s of it, and in any case using a whole plastic digidisc to carry just one song seems daft. So Reach Out will only be available online. You’ll be able to listen to it on this website, as well as buy it for small pennies on Itunes. But I want it to spread! I want the old men to get everywhere (especially David, who was sitting on the wall), so I’m going to give Reach Out away for free as well as having it for sale. If you want a free copy, enter your contact details into this website and I’ll wing it your way, complete with some beautiful artwork which a secret ink agent is making as I write.
I’m funding this whole album from my own skinny pocket, and it’s held together with love and pieces of string: you won’t find a billboard anywhere proclaiming its virtue, or a telly telling you it’s the must-have product. So when I do send it to you, send it on; send it to as many people as you think want to hear it. Play it to your friends, and their friends too. Ask them what they think. Tell them what you think. And then pass it on again.
The other exciting thing is this: I’ve got some frigging brilliant remixers lined up to rework both of these songs… That’s all I’ll say for now. But trust me, they’ll be given extra magic, whole new forms.

Thanks for writing, I very much liked your newest post. I think you should post more frequently, you evidently have natural ability for blogging!
